It’s One Year Out From The World Cup

So here’s the Edinburgh team to face Munster tonight:

Edinburgh: Paterson (capt), Robertson, Cairns, Grove, Visser, Godman, Mike Blair, Jacobsen, Ford, Cross, Lozada, MacLeod, Newlands, Talei, Rennie.
Replacements: Kelly, Traynor, Gilding, McKenzie, McInally, Greig Laidlaw, David Blair, Houston.

Live on BBC Alba (ko 1905)  plus no football this week so the BBC Radio team will be on hand to provide an alternative commentary, 810 MW.

Munster’s team is not exactly the top one, displaying the usual Irish “easing” into the season but it’s still a hefty selection of characters. Grove is given another chance at 12, while a couple of new/old faces return to the back row. With Glasgow’s John Barclay currently out injured, the Rennie/Grant battle could be interesting for Scotland come the autumn tests, although Grant is out now with a wee niggle too. Word is that Simon Taylor is on pretty good early form for Andy Robinson’s old team Bath, where he is playing mostly at 6 so far. I am sure Robbo would love to have that selection headache.

Glasgow face bogey team the Dragons on Sunday with Duncan Weir back on the bench after a Man of the Match performance last week, making way for the return of Colin “Budgie” Gregor while Canadian newcomer (and future winner of the Greatest Amusing Headline Possibilities Award) Chauncey O’ Toole slots straight in. Moray Low is rotated to the bench as Lineen looks for a better effort in the set piece than last weekend.

Glasgow: Bernardo Stortoni (capt); DTH van der Merwe, Max Evans, Graeme Morrison, Federico Aramburu; Ruaridh Jackson, Henry Pyrgos; Jon Welsh, Fergus Thomson, Ed Kalman, Tom Ryder, Richie Gray, Chauncey O’Toole, Calum Forrester, Richie Vernon.
Replacements: Pat MacArthur, Moray Low, Ryan Grant, Aly Muldowney, Rob Harley/Chris Fusaro, Colin Gregor, Duncan Weir, Hefin O’Hare.

This one is on what AD would call both the Swedish Chef channels, S4C and BBC Alba, ko 1610 on Sunday.

P.S. – anyone coming to New Zealand?
